Story:

The story of the movie revolves around The Boston Globe, a popular American newspaper’s investigative journalist unit carrying an investigation into widespread and systemic child abuse done by numerous Roman Catholic priests in the Boston area. The Archbishop of Boston and the Assistant District Attorney were aware of the wrongdoings of the priests, but did nothing to stop them. Instead, they tried to hush up the things.

To expose the misdeeds of the priests and to bring justice to the victims, the journalists carried out a painstaking investigation and ultimately got success in their mission.

Josh Singer, the writer of the film Spotlight expressed that one of his goals for the movie was to highlight the power of journalism, which he felt was waning. The film was able to successfully deliver this deeper message to the viewers.

Spotlight was directed by Tom McCarthy, who also wrote the movie along with Josh Singer. It starred actors Mark Ruffalo, Michael Keaton, Rachel McAdams, Liev Schreiber, John Slattery and Stanley Tucci. Howard Shore created music for the movie while the cinematography was done by Masanobu Takayanagi. Tom McArdle was the editor.
